Peek a Boo I See You...

We are heading around the corner and to the finish line!! From the last post, Lindsey was having a terrible time with nausea from the pregnancy but these past 6 weeks have been pretty smooth. Lindsey has been eating a lot more and her belly is starting to really show. The baby is really active mostly in the early morning hours and after eating and is really kicking hard!! We had a little scare at 28 weeks with a abnormal fasting sugar but luckily, the three hour repeat testing was normal and I am happy to report that the baby is healthy. The most important thing right now is that the baby is healthy knowing that the pregnancy is coming along with no complications is a true blessing.

As I mentioned in the last blog, the baby was confirmed a girl with 80% confidence. With this in mind, we went ahead to decorate the baby room with neutral colors. We are very grateful to our wonderful friend Kristina who graciously took her time to help paint the room and also add a little artistic touch with the hand painted flower decor. Thank you Kristina!!!

This past weekend we decided to do the 3D/4D ultrasound. This procedure ranges anywhere from $150-$250 depending on the package you choose. Of course, I wanted the best for baby so we chose the diamond package which included 20 minutes of DVD video coverage, 8 sepia pictures, 6 black and white pictures, and a 8"x10" photo. Our appointment was at 1 pm and it was important that Lindsey ate a good meal beforehand so the baby would be active. The ultrasound would not only confirm with 100% certainty the sex but also give the weight. This ultrasound was exactly 30 weeks and below is our wonderful baby girl!!

Baby Vu at 30 weeks 3lbs 11oz

One of the most amazing experiences you will ever have is seeing your child before she is born!!

We are looking forward to the baby shower this weekend and expect many guests. A special thank you to the Vu sisters for taking the time out to organize this event. We also would like to thank everyone who have responded and also would like to thank those who could not come to our baby shower for their wonderful gifts. We truly cherish your generosity and well wishes for our baby to come. Have a wonderful Easter everyone!!

It's Been a Long Time Stranger...

Sorry everyone for the infrequent updates. I had a little "technical" problem with my scanner. A little update on the pregnancy. Lindsey is currently 24 weeks now has been doing better. In the first trimester, she was hardly able to eat anything because of the constant nausea and vomiting. Because of this problem, we had to cancel our planned Vietnam trip for the good of the baby. Needless to say, Lindsey and I were pretty disappointed. We are probably planning on going back to Vietnam when baby gets older. About 6 weeks ago, she was finally able to overcome the nausea and has been gaining a lot more weight.

Five weeks ago, we did our second ultrasound to make sure the baby was doing well and to hopefully find out the sex. It was a very emotional session for the both of us. Just seeing our beautiful creation moving and healthy, transcends words into the world of spirituality. I cannot really describe in words but hopefully you can see the pictures and try to feel what we felt when we first saw our baby in the womb.

And finally.......what do you think the sex is?

It's a girl!!!

For Lindsey and I, we were very happy that the baby looked healthy. From the scans, the due date is June 10, 2009 which is two days off from the gestational date of June 12,2009. Baby will be a strong Ox and we are looking forward to seeing her soon. Thank you everyone for the kind wishes. I will try to continue to keep updating more frequently.

The Makings of a Movie Star...

Last week was one of the most nerve racking weeks that I have endured. Lindsey and I were preparing for our first prenatal visit with Dr. Brady (OB/GYN doctor). The visit entailed going over blood tests as well as having a first ultrasound. Because the baby was only about 6 weeks old, the ultrasound was done intravaginally. Needless, to say I was probably more nervous than Lindsey because of all the crazy things I think about as a doctor. Sometimes knowing too much is not a good thing especially when it comes to your own child. Being a patient instead of being a doctor is so enlightening. I was a wreck before the exam but after meeting Dr. Brady, she was very reassuring and very compassionate. I am so glad Lindsey was able to have this wonderful lady as her doctor. Okay enough of my philosophical jabbering and on to the good stuff!! Below is the video of baby's first ultrasound.

Amazing isn't it!! You can actually see baby's heart beating in this 6 week ultrasound. The heart beat actually forms in as little as 25 days. For now, Lindsey is off the hook with a single baby but that is not 100% confirmed until another ultrasound later on!! As we watched our baby on the screen, we were both overwhelmed by what we were witnessing. It was one of the most amazing and powerful things that I have experienced and I am sure that this journey will continue to get even better. Until next time everyone...

A New Arrival...

With every anticipated new arrival, there is much excitement and preparation. One needs to study and be prepared for any shortcomings. Nature gives us the instincts to act accordingly and when the time comes, we pray that these instincts will guide us to make the right choices. A perfect example is parenthood. As parents to be, Lindsey and I are praying that our instincts will guide us in making the right decisions for our child. We want to thank all of our friends and family for the wonderful wishes and I want to especially thank John for out 1st baby gift!! You can see it here..

Boy is this baby going to be spoiled!! Uncle John started it!! lol.....

Today, Lindsey and I attended the prenatal orientation. The class was an overview of pregnancy and about the various stages and tests that Lindsey will have to endure. It was a little scary because the lady was talking about the various birth defects and genetic defects that could occur in pregnancy. As a doctor, I study about these things but it is not until you are in the situation that you start freaking out!! We pray that we have a healthy baby. After the class, Lindsey had to take out 4 vials of blood but she was a good sport and had no problems. This entire week went by so fast. Lindsey is constantly eating and sleeping. Next week, we have an appointment with her doctor and she will have her 1st ultrasound. Stay posted for the results!!

On a side note, with the expected new arrival, I had a chance on purchasing a new arrival myself ;p...I recently got my first Digital SLR (DSLR) camera the Nikon D90 and I am so excited about learning photography so that when the baby comes, there will be thousands of great pictures!! Below are some pictures I took of our current kids. I hope everyone is doing well and once again, we thank everyone for their good wishes!!

An Exciting Week!!

I am starting this blog to update our family and friends on the exciting times that await us. We started out the week very excited to finally finish our goal of becoming pregnant. This goal started out 10 months ago with us trying and trying and trying. Finally on the morning of October 7 we had this result...

Woohooo!!!! It was too good to be true...We were going to be parents!! Not trusting one test, we then tested again with another kit and got this...

Can you see that faint line? It's positive!! Sure enough, we proceeded to tell all of our family and friends. From our calculations, the baby will be due June 12, 2009 the year of the buffalo. Lindsey and I are ecstatic and we are praying to have a healthy baby or babies ;P (there is a 10-15% chance of twins!!). Today we went to Babies R Us and took a look around but there was so much stuff there we were overwhelmed and ran out of the store!! We will have to come back sometime later to get the registry. Next week, we plan to go to the prenatal classes and also to get the general blood work. Lindsey has a ultrasound scheduled in 2 weeks with her OB/GYN doctor. As I write this blog, Lindsey is reading What to Expect When you are Expecting......I am going to continue to update this blog as frequently as possible to chronicle this entire process. Until next time...
